He is held prisoner in the Nashkel mines, which is one of the early key locations of the game. When the player's character encounters him, he is unarmed and severely injured, and if he is allowed to journey along with the player character, he will reveal himself as a pessimistic travel mate, with negative comments on failure and mild surprise at success.
